The Chiavari chair, named for the Ligurian town where it was first made, is one of Italy's most enduring seating forms. These are executed in solid brass, with the slender turned spindles and the notched crest rail that give the design its light, formal profile. Sold individually, offered here in two seat colors.

Condition

Both chairs are structurally sound and stand firmly on stretcher-joined legs. Both have been recovered in velvet; the underside shows a later synthetic dust cover secured with staples, so the upholstery is not original and the seats are disclosed as reupholstered. Light blue chair: brass is bright with good polish, light surface handling marks only. Dark blue chair: brass shows more age, with darkening, spotting, and minor pitting across the frame, most visible on the legs and stretchers. A stamped mark is present on the reverse of the crest rail; it is not legible enough in current images to attribute a maker. Sold as-is; photos govern condition.
