A French Louis Philippe chest of drawers in sandblasted oak, with four graduated drawers, rounded quarter columns framing the case, and turned bun feet. The sandblasting has stripped it back to pale, open-grain bare wood, giving a soft blond tone that suits a lighter, more contemporary room. The rounded front corners and the low molded plinth are hallmarks of the Louis Philippe form, which favored clean lines and figure over carving.
Sandblasted to bare wood on all exterior surfaces, which has removed the original stained and sealed finish entirely. This is irreversible and has opened the grain; the surface reads pale and blond rather than its original medium brown. Interior and secondary surfaces were not blasted and retain their original planed pine.
The piece was treated for woodworm prior to sandblasting. Small old flight holes remain visible on the top surface; there is no evidence of active infestation, but the piece is sold as treated rather than guaranteed inert.
Splitting is present in several places: a long split down the top surface, and splits to the top drawer, the second drawer, the third drawer, and two spots in the bottom drawer. There is some loss and roughness to the lower plinth molding and the front feet area, consistent with age and floor contact. One drawer key is present; locks are not all tested. Sold as-is with photos governing.
Species is assessed as oak with high confidence from the ray fleck and ring-porous grain, confirmed by the pre-sandblasting photographs. Date is a construction-based estimate; no maker's mark is present.

All antique and vintage items are shipped from our warehouse in Bluffdale, Utah. Each piece is carefully packed by hand using archival materials and custom crating when necessary.
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the size and weight of the item. Local pickup is available at the AMD Warehouse.
All sales of antique and vintage items are final due to their unique, one-of-a-kind nature. Illuminé candles and The Collector's Guide may be returned within 14 days of delivery if unopened and in original condition.
If your piece arrives damaged, please photograph the damage immediately (including packaging), contact us within 48 hours at austynmariedesign@gmail.com, and do not discard any packaging.
