Vintage French Oak and Brass Cider Pitcher

The body is coopered oak, real barrel construction with staves bound under brass bands, and then the maker capped it with a bright brass neck, spout, and a big looping handle. It is the everyday cider and wine vessel of French cafés and farmhouse tables, scaled down small. The oak has warmed to a deep honey brown over the years, and the brass has been kept polished, so it reads as both rustic and a little bit dressy at the same time.
The pitcher is in good, sound condition throughout. The coopered oak body is stable with no loose staves and no movement in any of the four brass bands. There are shrinkage cracks along the staves consistent with the age of the wood and the way coopered oak dries over time, and these are stable, not structural. The oak surface has been cleaned and waxed and shows honest wear, small scratches, and darkened patina across the body. The brass neck, spout, handle, and bands have been polished and are bright, with light surface scratches and a few minor dings visible under raking light. The brass neck is formed from soldered sheet with no separate liner, and the seam is intact. The interior is clean. The handle is firmly attached at both the upper joint and the lower riveted terminal
