A large oval two-handled gallery tray in silver plate, made in England by Falstaff, a Birmingham silverplating house that operated under the Arnold E. Williams and Sons Limited name from the mid-20th century onward. The engraved field is densely worked with acanthus scrolls, foliate sprays, and a central shell and fan medallion, all drawn from Victorian serving tray vocabulary and rendered here with considerable decorative ambition. The cast shell-and-acanthus handles are the standout detail, three-dimensional and well-defined, the kind of handle you see on much earlier and more expensive pieces. At 22 inches, this is a genuinely useful size for a bar, a console, a sideboard, or a dining table.
