A slim brass pocket lighter with a slip-on cap that closes over the wick and flint wheel, which kept fuel from evaporating between cigarettes. It’s the sort of plain, practical piece that rode in a coat pocket for decades. A tidy little object for a desk, a shelf, or a tobacciana collection.

This is a worn but intact brass lighter with the honest wear of a pocket piece. I have not tested it, so I can’t speak to whether it sparks or burns, and it is sold untested as a decorative piece. No fuel is included.

The brass shows scratches and light surface wear across the body and cap, with a few small reddish spots on one side. The upper body, visible with the cap off, is darker and mottled. There are grey-white deposits along the cap seam and the center band, which look like solder or white metal. I can’t establish whether they belong to the original assembly or a later repair. The wick is dry and frayed, and I have not confirmed whether a flint is present. The cap is a friction fit and slips off the body.
