Carr's of Sheffield has been making sterling silver frames in the Neoclassical revival style since the late 1970s, and this 1994 example shows why the design has lasted. The repoussé face combines rope-twist borders, laurel garland rails, oval corner cartouches, and swag motifs at the top and bottom rail, all centered with small rosette bosses. It holds a standard 2.75" x 3.75" photograph and stands on its original blue velvet easel back. Full Sheffield hallmarks to the lower rail confirm sterling silver and date the frame to 1994.
The frame is in good vintage condition. The silver face is clean and bright with no dents, deformations, or losses to the repoussé decoration. The hallmarks to the lower rail are clear and legible. The glass is intact with no chips or cracks. The blue velvet back shows light wear and some dustiness consistent with age and storage but is structurally sound. The easel stand functions correctly and holds the frame securely at a stable angle.
