A petite French gilt brass hanging frame, circular in format with a convex glass dome over the aperture. The face is wrapped in a continuous band of gadrooning, the alternating dart-and-leaf motif running the full circumference, and the crest is a separately cast openwork piece centered on a foliate finial with swaged garland swags curling out to scroll terminals on either side. The convex glass is original and intact. The back is covered in a woven floral brocade, cream ground with a small repeat in gold, green, pink, and burgundy, and there is a hanging ring at the top of the crest. This is the hanging wall type, not an easel frame. It was made for displaying a cabinet card photograph, a portrait miniature, or a small devotional image. The construction quality, the articulation of the crest, and the warmth of the gilding are consistent with good Parisian production of the Belle Époque period. No maker's marks, which is typical for this category.
The frame is in good antique condition with honest age-appropriate wear throughout. The gilding is intact across the frame face and crest with warm, mellowed tone consistent with age. There is no significant loss to the gilding on the face. The crest shows minor wear at the high points of the casting where the gilding has softened slightly, which is normal. The convex glass is present and intact with no chips or cracks. The brocade back is present and intact; it shows age-appropriate softening and minor fading consistent with its age but no tears or significant damage visible. The hanging ring is present and functional. The frame structure is sound throughout.

All antique and vintage items are shipped from our warehouse in Bluffdale, Utah. Each piece is carefully packed by hand using archival materials and custom crating when necessary.
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the size and weight of the item. Local pickup is available at the AMD Warehouse.
All sales of antique and vintage items are final due to their unique, one-of-a-kind nature. Illuminé candles and The Collector's Guide may be returned within 14 days of delivery if unopened and in original condition.
