The interior has been stripped. The gathered silk lid panel and the fitted liner that this box was built with are both gone, leaving bare secondary wood throughout. Red to pink adhesive residue runs along the base perimeter and the lid rebate, with scattered tack holes, textile impressions in the old finish, and small dark spotting across the base. The result is a plain open well rather than a lined jewelry interior. For a buyer who wants usable storage this reads as an advantage. For a collector who wants the box as made, it is a real loss and it is the reason this piece is priced where it is.
One brass corner cap is missing from the lower front. The fillet terminates short at that point, exposing a darker metal remnant and two open fixing holes, with minor veneer bruising to the adjacent edge. The remaining brass runs are complete and sitting tight.
The lock mechanism is present and catches when the lid is closed. There is no key.
The underside carries an old black painted finish with large losses exposing pale wood beneath. All four bun feet are present and seated.
The veneer shows light scratching across the top and a small loss at one shaped lid corner. The fine lines visible on the lid follow the parquetry joints and are part of how the top was laid, not cracks.

All antique and vintage items are shipped from our warehouse in Bluffdale, Utah. Each piece is carefully packed by hand using archival materials and custom crating when necessary.
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the size and weight of the item. Local pickup is available at the AMD Warehouse.
All sales of antique and vintage items are final due to their unique, one-of-a-kind nature. Illuminé candles and The Collector's Guide may be returned within 14 days of delivery if unopened and in original condition.
If your piece arrives damaged, please photograph the damage immediately (including packaging), contact us within 48 hours at austynmariedesign@gmail.com, and do not discard any packaging.
