Antique English Silverplate Serving Tray
Antique English Silverplate Serving Tray
Couldn't load pickup availability
A small English silverplate-on-copper serving tray with a beaded border, four ball feet, and a plain field engraved with two devices: a hand-engraved script monogram, suggesting the tray was made for or passed through a titled or armigerous household. The form is classic late Victorian and Edwardian English electroplate — this proportions and border treatment were produced continuously by English manufacturers from the 1870s through the Edwardian period. No maker's stamp is present; the tray is unattributed.
The serving surface shows light scratching and tarnish consistent with age and use. The beaded border retains good definition throughout. The ball feet are intact. The two engravings are clear and well-executed. The underside shows significant wear: copper bleed-through is visible across multiple areas of the field, and the surface is heavily scratched. The plating on the underside is substantially more worn than the serving surface. Structurally sound.
