Antique English Portrait Oil Painting, Girl in Straw Hat, Monogrammed E.P.T.
Couldn't load pickup availability
Antique English School oil portrait of a young girl in a wide-brimmed straw hat, her red smocked dress and pearl necklace painted with the easy confidence of a trained hand. The monogram "E.P.T." appears lower right; the artist has not been identified, but the quality of the flesh modeling and the assured handling of the hat brim and ribbon place this firmly within the Edwardian British portrait tradition, circa 1895 to 1910.
The canvas is in good antique condition. The paint film is stable with fine, even craquelure consistent with age, running uniformly across the surface. No active flaking, cleavage, or obvious inpainting is visible. The face is well preserved. The verso shows a period wooden stretcher with age-appropriate darkening and wear consistent with a genuine late 19th to early 20th century English construction; the canvas is not lined. No labels, stamps, or inscriptions are present on the verso. The current frame is a later replacement, a simple cream-painted wood molding not original to the painting, with minor scuffs and wear consistent with its own age. The period stretcher beneath is structurally sound.
