Antique Aesthetic Movement Brass Picture Frame
Antique Aesthetic Movement Brass Picture Frame

This is a small engraved brass easel frame with an oval aperture and a beveled glass, made to stand on a desk or table and hold a single portrait. The whole face is hand engraved with foliate scrolls, small flower heads, and a ribbon at the base, with a pierced crest at the top. It sits upright on a folding rear strut. No backing board is present.
The frame is solid and displays well. The brass has a warm aged tone with light oxidation across the surface, which is normal for brass of this age and not damage. There is green verdigris on the rear strut and around the inner edge of the aperture, again normal oxidation and visible mostly from the back. The hand engraving on the face is crisp and easy to read. The oval glass is a true bevel and is intact, with no chips or cracks I can see. The folding strut works and holds the frame upright. There is no backing board, so the buyer will want to add a backing to hold a photograph in place. Please review all photographs closely, as they form part of this description.
