The gilt spine tooling retains strong definition across all compartments, though there is some fading and light loss to the gilding in the middle panels consistent with handling over 120 years. The gilt-ruled board borders are largely intact with minor interruptions. The prize label on the front pastedown is present and fully legible, cleanly adhered. The marbled endpapers and page edges are bright and show the original green, cream, and gold pattern clearly. The text block is tight and secure. The interior pages appear clean and free of significant foxing based on available photographs; any scattered spotting or toning should be noted by the seller upon final inspection.
