The body has a reeded lower section, ring-turned collars, and a domed lid that hides the socket. The paper label on the underside reads \"Lamp base, made in Italy,\" which places it in the mid-20th century run of Italian carved alabaster lamps that came out of Volterra and exported in good numbers. It has been rewired with a new cord, plug, and socket and works. There is a stable crack through the turned collar where the body meets the base, visible in the photographs. It is a cosmetic flaw only. The structure is sound and the lamp stands and functions normally. The underside of the base shows heavy orange and green mineral staining that has spread up onto the lower edges of the plinth, consistent with age and some past damp exposure in the porous stone. The rest of the lamp reads clean and white. Please review all photographs closely, as they form part of this description.
